Insurance companies spend over £500 million per year on advertising, much of which is exaggeration or stretching reality to the utmost degree, they will employ the top, and most expensive agencies, to attract calls from motorists. The agencies will try every angle possible to attract enquiries, to justify their huge fees (or risk losing the business).
Companies like the Direct Line Group, incorporating Churchill, NIG, Privilege, Tesco, Virgin etc. will bombard you on every street corner, radio, TV, supermarket, newspaper and magazine, no stone is left unturned. Always professing to give you quality and value for money. The reality is that they are not often competitive, partly because they spend so much on marketing (owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland). |
The same can be said for other industry giants like E Sure group which includes Sainsbury, First Alternative, Sheilaswheels, Halifax, etc (owned by Bank of Scotland).
Both of the above are fantastic at advertising, but have been extremely uncompetitve in the last twelve months i.e. from 01/01/06 (excluding Privelege/Virgin).

Norwich Union with the RAC, Simple Cover, Ford, Mercedes etc.
